Latest articlesMtukudzi to feature in filmMUSIC superstar Oliver Mtukudzi says he will star in his fourth feature film in 2010 and also plans to record an album featuring duets with musicians from other African countries. The movie titled Sarawoga is based on a novel by the same name whose main theme centres on African power struggles in pre-colonial times. The film gives a clear picture of how the undiluted African culture was and the important advisory roles played by ancestral spirits to the traditional leadership. “I am currently working on the original sound track for the film that should be done by the end of this year and we premiere next year,” Mtukudzi announced on his website. Tuku, as Mtukudzi is popularly known by his fans, has starred in three feature films since his 1990 movie debut appearance in Jit, a film about a young man who tries every trick in the book in his attempt to win the heart of the most beautiful girl in his town. The Zimbabwean star revealed plans to record an album featuring artists from Zimbabwe, Kenya, South Africa and Zambia. “I am re-recording some of the songs on the album with an internationally renowned acappella group and a diva from somewhere in South Africa,” Mtukudzi said.  When Kid Cudi performs with Wale and the go-go group UCB, the VMA house band, at Sunday's awards show, he will take some time out to remember 2008 house-band member DJ AM, who died unexpectedly last month."DJ AM was a good homie of mine, so we're going to do a little something for him," the VMA-nominated rapper told MTV News. "We doing this for AM. He had so much love." For Cudi's time at the Video Music Awards, he plans to make sure his party is all about AM. "We're going to be celebrating his life," he said. "You know what I mean? It's going to be a great night, and I don't know about everybody else, but I'm celebrating the VMAs in memory of Adam Goldstein." Wale spoke to MTV News after AM's death about picking up where Travis Barker and DJ AM left off last year. "AM was one of the greatest DJs I've ever seen play," he said. "Him and Travis had such a chemistry. [AM was] definitely one of the greater ears in music, and he's definitely underrated [as a DJ]." Wale and UCB will also be joined by Solange Knowles, Pitbull and 3OH!3 for a series of originals and covers that will definitely keep the VMA crowd rocking all night.
